Classical Hong Kong Wing Chun Classes
In this class you will learn:
Traditional Yip Man Wing Chun curriculum including; three empty hand forms, wooden dummy form, butterfly swords and long pole
Reflex and flow drills
Close range punching
A variety of striking and defence methods, stances, kicks and footwork.
Chi Sau/Sticking hands
Emphasis is placed on maintaining balance and learning to move the body as a cohesive unit for maximal force output. Countering and reflex drills will also be practiced in order to encourage and develop strong attributes in the student.
Intermediate techniques such as “sticking” and bridging will be taught as the student progresses. The students will learn the tools hidden inside the Wing Chun forms and understand the purposes of every movement to ensure functional understanding and skill is developed. At a more advanced level, students will learn to disrupt an opponents balance on contact which is a skill of paramount importance in self defence.
Rates and Schedule:
Private Class Rates: Scheduled based on availability of student and instructor.
$397/month for weekly 1 hr classes
$597/month for weekly 1.5 hr classes
Discounts are available for students interested in taking 2 or more classes weekly and students purchasing 3 month, 6 month or 1 year packages
Group Classes: Every Saturday from 6pm-730pm
$170/month or $45/drop in class
Private Online Zoom Classes: Scheduled based on availability of student and instructor.
$230USD/month for weekly private 60 minute sessions. No equipment is required.
Location: Classes are hosted in the traditional Chinese way — at my home studio in Kitsilano.
Instruction is offered in English or Cantonese 廣東話.
