Private classes: individual or partnered
For one’s martial skills to be functional they must be tailored to suit the individual’s own body; attributes; body composition; athletic ability; and personality.
Private classes are especially ideal for students who prefer slower-paced instruction.
If a student has a specific learning objective, classes can be highly focused e.g. application focused
Rate: $80 CAD/ hr
$350/month for weekly 1 hr classes
$520/month for weekly 1.5 hr classes
Discounts are available for students interested in taking 2 or more classes weekly
Location: Classes are hosted in the traditional Chinese way — in my studio in Vancouver or at the student’s home (a large space is not required).
Instruction is offered in English or Cantonese 廣東話.
Online Zoom Classes: Scheduled based on availability of student and instructor. Cost is $200 USD/month for weekly private 55 minute sessions. No equipment is required.
Group classes
Group classes allows students to engage in partner training and flow drills to improve their overall skills and reflexes in a casual and relaxed environment.
Schedule: Every Saturday evening 6pm-730pm. Group classes are by appointment only due to limited space, please contact me to book.
Rate: $120/month or $35/drop in class

I strive for a respectful and safe learning environment at all times. Students are expected to respect themselves, others, the instructor and training environment.
What to expect

Students can expect to learn the basic movements of short range punching, a variety of striking and defence methods, stances, kicks and footwork. Emphasis is placed on maintaining balance and learning to move the body as a cohesive unit for maximal force output. Countering and reflex drills will also be practiced in order to encourage and develop strong attributes in the student.
Intermediate techniques such as “sticking” and bridging will be taught as the student progresses. The students will learn the tools hidden inside the Wing Chun forms and understand the purposes of every movement to ensure functional understanding and skill is developed. At a more advanced level, students will learn to disrupt an opponents balance on contact which is a skill of paramount importance in self defence.

Students will learn the process of developing their core attributes of speed, power, timing, and sensing, among others. NCGF is a three part process that involves the development of powerful weapons (various kinds of punches, strikes and others), a delivery system for those weapons, and a counter-interference system (e.g. how to handle when your strikes are being obstructed by an opponent’s arm or other body part). NCGF is a workout and will develop above average conditioning and fitness in a relatively short period of time. The focus is on simplicity and the cultivation and mastery of only a few practical and relatively simple techniques.

Students will learn the basic health postures from the martial art of Yiquan and learn to direct their intent in a powerful way. Through diligent practice, the student will learn to relax their body, calm their mind and develop laser-like focus that can be accessed anytime and anywhere.
The benefits of this cannot be overstated as mastery over one’s intent can help one achieve or overcome anything in their life. The goal is to learn how to access a particular mental and physical state where the body is present and primed for action while maintaining relaxation.
Practicing standing meditation will also improves ones functional speed, reaction time, awareness and even strength. Many who train gain the ability to release painful trigger points and knots in the body; it is a powerful method to use for pain management and holistic health.
